Robyn Ritter Simon, a
Beverlywood resident, had an
original suggestion, saying she
would appoint a business deputy
if elected. "No council member
has ever had a deputy
exclusively devoted to business
concerns," she said. Ritter
Simon added that she would also
seek to raise the business tax
exemption for small businesses
to $250,000 from the current
$100,000.

WESTSIDE L.A. - Robyn Ritter
Simon's reputation as a
community activist, organizer
and grassroots leader long
precedes her run for this year's
5th District City Council seat.
Back in 1995, the mother of
three rallied together with a
handful of other parents to
create The Beverlywood Moms.
They set out to turn around
their then flailing local public
Canfield elementary school and
make it a place they'd want to
send their kids. The success of
that organization, not only led
to Ritter Simon helping out
other parents in local schools,
it is what has fueled her to run
for office this year.
